Code of Practice & Terms and Conditions
Please read these terms carefully before applying to trade at a Malta Artisan Markets event. By submitting an application, you agree to abide by all rules listed below.
General Requirements
- Stallholders must comply with all venue regulations. Non-compliance will result in immediate dismissal from the market without compensation or reimbursement.
- The Market Manager assigns stall locations one day prior to each event.
- Stalls must display a clear, visible business name label at all times.
- Malta Artisan Markets does not provide tables or chairs. Vendors are responsible for their own equipment.
- Optional table hire (6ft × 2ft with tablecloth) is available at an additional cost and must be booked in advance.
Food Producer Standards
- Food producers must display current health and hygiene certification at their stall at all times.
- On-site cooking is strictly prohibited unless special written permission has been granted.
- Only vendors with explicit printed permission may sell open food, drinks, or samples.
- Organic, natural, or similar certification claims must be supported by displayed certificates and supporting documentation.
- All food items must be properly packaged and sealed in accordance with Maltese food safety regulations.
Operational Conduct
- All stallholders must hold a valid VAT number and issue fiscal receipts for every sale.
- Vendors are expected to wear clean and presentable clothing appropriate for the prevailing climate and venue.
- Smoking at or near stalls is strictly prohibited.
- Vendors are responsible for maintaining a clean and hazard-free space, and must remove all their own rubbish at the close of each market.
- At heritage venues such as Palazzo Parisio, stallholders bear full responsibility for any damage or spillage caused.
- Advertising materials and promotional items distributed at the stall must relate exclusively to products sold at that stall.
- Distributing promotional materials outside your designated stall area will result in removal from the market without compensation.
Market Hours & Packing
- Stalls must be fully set up and trading-ready by the official opening time of the market.
- Setup staff arrive approximately two hours before opening — please coordinate with the Market Manager.
- Packing down must not begin before the official closing time, even if you have sold out of products.
- Stallholders are expected to remain present and trading throughout the full duration of the market.
Security, Safety & Liability
- Malta Artisan Markets assumes no responsibility for theft, loss, or damage to vendors' goods, equipment, or property.
- Stallholders are solely responsible for the security and management of their own stall, stock, and financial transactions.
- All structures, displays, and equipment must be set up safely and securely to avoid risk to the public or other vendors.
Refund Policy
- No refunds will be issued after the application deadline has passed.
- Cancellations made up to two weeks before the market date will receive a 50% refund. No refund is available after that point.
- In the event of market cancellation due to weather or circumstances beyond our control, stall fees will not be refunded — however, the market will be rescheduled.
- If a vendor cannot attend the rescheduled date, a 50% refund will be issued upon written request.
Indemnification
- By participating in Malta Artisan Markets, stallholders agree to indemnify and hold harmless The Definitive(ly) Good Guide Co, the organisers of the Malta Artisan Markets, and the Venue against all claims for damages or injury arising from the stallholder's own negligence or actions.
- Stallholders participate at their own risk and are encouraged to hold appropriate public liability insurance.
